Stellium, the UK’s largest purpose-built data centre campus, has built and operates the Newcastle Internet Exchange (NCL-IX) for the good of the internet and interconnection in the Tyne & Wear region of England.
Stellium are committed to supporting the local internet ecosystem in the north east of England and have committed to operating NCL-IX on a neutral not-for-profit basis until such time as both the exchange is self-sustaining, and the connecting networks wish to transfer it into a member owned company limited by guarantee.
Stellium have undertaken to make up to two 1/10Gb ports free of charge until at January 2023.
Stellium will look to introduce a charge on an operating cost recovery basis after that point and only if NCL-IX is delivering sufficient value to its members. No charge will be introduced without consultation and charges will be benchmarked to similar sized exchanges in Europe.
There are charges for third and subsequent 1/10Gb ports, 100Gb ports and non-standard connections (e.g. ER/ZR). Please contact us via firstname.lastname@example.org for queries.
